Why Can't I Put Everything I Want on the Mum & THE Kitchen Sink?

Everyone knows, the Homecoming Mum is all about the story. It tells the story of the recipient. It can tell the story of a relationship. It can tell the story of an amazing athletic season. It can tell the story of accomplishments. It can tell the story of SENIOR YEAR! It is a Homecoming Mum!
We also know, the size of the mum can be tiny for a backpack. It can be medium, it can be short. It can be huge to wear on the front and back. It is a Homecoming Mum!
We know you can add lights. You can add plush. There are boas, bling, bows. You can choose the size of the flower. You can add more flowers or different flowers. You can choose how long you want it to be. It is a Homecoming Mum!
And there's nothing wrong with any of these things - it can get to be "too much". And a good professional mummaker will tell you when it is "too much". You can be accommodated to keep it tasteful. You want to be able to see the work put into the mum, without it being overwhelmed by a lot of "too much". A good professional mummaker will help your story unfold on the mum by including and toning down in all the right places. A good professional mummaker always wants your story to be told, we just do not want anything to be buried in the mum.
The same thought process applies to the number of braids that can be added to your mum. There is only so much space under your flowers and within the skirt. How Do I Find A Professional Mummaker?

Let's be honest, once the school year starts, all the mummakers come out to show off their homecoming products. You will see signs by the schools, tents on the side of the road, social media posts, marketplace post, Nextdoor post, a friend of a friend knows someone, you overhear someone at Starbucks talk about one. You can literally speak it into the universe and a mummaker will appear!
BUT how do you know this is the one? How do you know their quality of work? Is their pricing fair? Is this a scam? Will the person I order this for like it? Can I trust this mummaker will do quality work? All valid and good questions. You want something the recipient will love and appreciate but you also want value for what you are paying. Enter in the professional mummaker.
What is a professional mummaker? Easiest answer would be the Mums Inc. Find-A-Mum page. But better answer would be, what are you looking for? What style do you like? Do they have a picture trail? Do they take time to create a homecoming mum based on what you want?
A professional mummaker is someone who not only learns how to make homecoming mums, they are constantly learning to keep up with trends and styles. Professional mummakers will have a definite picture trail - watermarked pictures you can see on different social media outlets to verify their work. There is also education, networking, professional affiliation, research, etc. There is a lot we do to bring your homecoming mum idea to life!
Professional mummakers will also work most of the year round (At Spirited Mums by a Spirited Mom we take some time off in December and sometimes in July). We start ordering inventory after the season finishes in November. We will begin braiding and prepping again in January. We also begin our social media presence again in January ramping up in the Summer. If we have customers with a particular idea in mind, we will start doing specialty ordering (think HELLO KITTY senior mum) as soon as possible.
Making and creating a mum is not easy. Hats off to those parents, family or friends who attempt it if only one time. But, if you decide to find that professional to help you out, research is the best thing to help you. Research and time. Those custom mums take time and you wouldn't want us to rush through those memories. We learn pretty quickly that time is precious with these kids and high school moves very fast!

It has been said that "we are all in this together". For Spirited Mums by a Spirited Mom that has never been more true. We are not just a family, we are a tribe. We are the mighty party of 7 and we all contribute to Spirited Mums by a Spirited Mom in some way.
We are a family owned and operated business. As a family, we handle whatever is needed to make a great homecoming memory for our customers. We do braid making, creative opinions, ribbon cutting, business management, stocking inventory, bookkeeping and marketing. We pride ourselves on creating a custom homecoming mum or garter for each order.
Our Spirited Mom has been making mums for over 20 years now. Initially, she started making mums for friends and family. She expanded after a few years for loyal and wonderful customers by word of mouth. In 2019, we made a family decision to take a leap of faith and Spirited Mums was born.
We are constantly learning, growing and finding new challenges to help make that awesome memory for you - whether it be at homecoming, birthday, Valentine's day, baby showers, etc.
