Mum Info & Terminology

Crown Example
Crowns are the ribbons styled and placed around the flower. They can be loops, points, krazy loops, dovetail, etc. They can also appear within the mum on a cascade ribbon down the front of the mum (for an additional cost). The number of layers depends on the size of the flower and mum.

Skirt Example
Skirts consist of all the ribbons, braids, bling, bells, trinkets, bows, etc. that make up the bottom of the mum. We even call them skirts on the garters even though they are not that long. For mums, the length of the skirt can be based on personal preference, but traditional length is 36".

Everyone has a preference, especially when it comes to homecoming garters. This chart is designed to give you an estimate of where particular lengths may fall in regards to the skirt on the arm.

Everyone has a preference, especially when it comes to homecoming mums. This chart is designed to give you an estimate of where particular lengths may fall in regards to the skirt. We do have an option on our order form to choose a perfect length for your recipient. The estimate is this image is based on single flower mums. (Multi Mums length estimates will be slightly longer due to more flowers in the crown.)

Mum Flower Sizes
Mum (and special mini) flowers can be 4.5" to 9.5" depending on what size you order.
Garter flowers will stay in the range of 5.5" to 6.5".

Single and Multiple Flower Examples
Mums can not only come in a single flower at the top, they can also be double (two flowers), triple (three flowers), or quad (four flowers). Examples above are the single, double, triple* and quad.

Bling Examples
Bling comes in lots of shapes, sizes and colors. It also comes separately or in strands. It can be added to mums within the skirts, crowns or braids. It shows up when light shines on it or when the mum moves around.
Custom Cutouts VS Trinkets
Custom cutouts allow us to create the same items but add more as far as leadership positions, specific memories, school logo, etc. and are more in line with overall design of the mum or garter.
Trinkets are the hard plastic items placed on a mum regarding grade level, activities, school spirit, etc. We have the option to use either but we are moving in a directions of full custom cutouts to make it very personal.

Diamond Dust Ribbon
Diamond dust ribbon is a ribbon that can be used in skirts, crowns or within braids for extra "diamond" like glitter within the mum. It definitely gives you the "extra" in any mum!
Braid Examples
Braids can include Decorative Chains, Upgrade Braids and Personalized Ribbons. Braids are the decorative ribbons either in braided form, loops, bows, tulle, feathers, etc. They are used to add some decorative elements but they also can be used to add details such as name, grade, activities, etc.
